About Us
Sue Thomas and Melissa Kuzma found the perfect way to combine their friendship, careers and desire to create something to help seniors. In 2008, they joined forces to develop the Retirement Living Resource Directory™ (RLRD).We are children of aging parents and senior service providers. As we worked in the senior market, helped our own parents transition to retirement communities and began to share our experiences with others, we were amazed at the response. Most seniors and their families are totally unaware of the types of businesses and services available specifically for senior transition and aging-in-place. It was this disconnect that became the genesis of the RLRD.
The Retirement Living Resource Directory™ (RLRD) was created as a way to bring the senior service professionals together in one location. Our goal is to provide seniors and their families with an easy to use “Go-To” site for the goods and services seniors need to either age in place or transition to retirement community living.
Sue Thomas: Co-Founder
Several years ago Sue Thomas, owner of Room Whispers Redesign began developing the niche market of Redesign for Retirement Living™. Redesign is a style decorating that emphasizes using what the client already owns. Because seniors already have a lifetime of furniture, artwork and other treasures, Redesign is a perfect for them.While working with residents of local retirement communities, Sue found her clients wanted help at all stages of the moving process. From working with realtors, to home staging, downsizing and estate liquidation, these seniors wanted help getting organized, getting their possessions packed and unpacked and getting settled in their new homes.
As Sue's business model expanded to meet these demands, she looked for businesses that understood the intricacies of the senior market, companies that would work honestly and fairly with her senior clientele. Here's what Sue discovered as a result of her search:
- Many businesses and industries work specifically with seniors but the businesses are hard to locate unless you know exactly what to ask for.
- Seniors, their families and their caregivers often have no idea these businesses or services exist.
- There was no single “Go-To” resource to find these senior service providers.
Melissa Kuzma: Co-Founder
Melissa has 25 years experience in Information Technology. After completing her MBA, Melissa was looking for a way to combine her degree and technical background while working in the senior market. Melissa was working with Sue on content and marketing when the concept for the RLRD began to take shape. As it so often happens in life, the timing was serendipitous. Development of the RLRD coincided with Melissa’s parents’ decision to move to a retirement community from a home of 20 years.Sarah Cioffi: Account Manager
Sarah joined the RLRD team in April 2009, bringing an award winning sales and service background to the group. Sarah's approach to sales is all about relationship building not pressure. Her insight has been invaluable to the team and we're excited to have her on board.As the Retirement Living Resource Directory team grows, we will continue our commitment to bringing the senior community a solid, reliable source of goods, services, and information for years to come.
